The House Judiciary Committee grants a request for DHS Departmental Report of H.R. 681, a private resolution by Rep. Don Young (R-AK) to grant Citizenship to Rebecca Trimble, who was adopted by an American family in 1989 as an infant and has been living in the country since then. The family did not properly complete the paperwork for the adoption, so when Mrs. Trimble applied for an enhanced ID in 2012, she learned she was living in the country illegally. She has no family or connection in Mexico, the country of her birth, and does not speak Spanish. She has been seeking relief with the help of politicians, particularly Rep. Young, in her home state of Alaska.
