Born out of the local first movement, localscaping is a growing idea that takes all the complexities out of landscaping for a challenging climate by offering solutions that are simple, actionable, and creates yards that work, not more yard work. In this informative talk, Cynthia Bee shows how localscaping produces an end result that matches a homeowners’ preferred landscape appearance while using one third or less water than a typical yard. Cynthia works to translate the technical nature of landscaping into public friendly messaging as the Outreach Coordinator for the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District’s Conservation Garden Park. Whether it’s teaching landscape classes to homeowners or creating digital and social media marketing content, she’s learned how homeowners think about landscaping-and how to influence them. Cynthia earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Utah State University and has spent more than 20 years working in different sectors of the green industry. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
