Our reaction to stress is either to lose all our faith, strength and confidence or to stand against it, building our resilience. In the face of global crisis of COVID-19 pandemic, it is the responsibility of the governments to build that resilience and define the response of individuals and communities. The disease outbreak cannot be controlled without effective involvement of the community, and to ensure ‘infodemic’, the pandemic of misinformation doesn’t do as much harm as the pandemic itself. The spirit of solidarity for our fellow global citizens is what the fate of humanity depends on, and we have to win the day for all of us, tells Dr Soumya Swaminathan, the Chief Scientist of WHO in this eye-opening talk. Dr. Soumya Swaminathan is the Chief Scientist at the World Health Organization. She was previously Secretary to the Government of India for Health Research and Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
