Machine learning and artificial intelligence are hot topics right now as development accelerates at a rapid pace and new discoveries and capabilities are unlocked daily. One of the most interesting aspects of working with ML/AI is what it teaches us about how human beings learn. By figuring out how to teach machines to learn, data scientists are also discovering how to help people learn better as well. Ben Holmes is a data scientist specializing in machine learning/artificial intelligence. He has worked in a wide range of fields, from research for new clinical therapeutic techniques, DNA analysis for use in the legal system and mapping of neurons in the hippocampus, to fraud prevention for large banks and network security. His particular interests are in the philosophy of science and the current state of machine learning research. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
