Matt Wallace is the deputy project manager for NASA’s Mars 2020 program and has led the development team since 2013. Perseverance is the fifth rover Wallace has worked on. The rover successfully touched down on Mars in an ancient lake and river delta known as Jezero crater where it will search for signs of ancient life and collect samples of Martian rock and soil for a future sample-return mission to Earth.
