In a roundtable on criminal justice reform with Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, former Secretary of Energy and Texas Governor Rick Perry admitted that the «hard on crime» policies in the late 80s and early 90s had a terrible impact on young criminals «that we were mad at but that we weren’t afraid of.»
