At Thursday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) pushed back on an amendment from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) which would make it impossible for prisoners who committed particularly heinous crimes as a juvenile to be released before they’ve served eighty percent of the time they were sentenced for.
