Dr Shubha Tole is a neuroscientist, a professor and principal investigator at the Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research in Mumbai. The subject of her research is the development and evolution of the mammalian nervous system. She has made significant contributions to understanding how the brain’s structure and circuitry are formed in the embryo.
Her research has won her many accolades. She was awarded The Infosys Prize 2014 in Life Sciences for having discovered common genetic mechanisms crucial to the development of the hippocampus, cortex and amygdala.
