Rachel Fox, an incoming senior at Agoura High, discusses the complexities surrounding the gene-editing debate. Rachel explains the fascinating origins and newly found evidence that continues to cause controversy over the use of genetic editing. I’m Rachel Fox, and I am a rising senior at Agoura High School. I am extremely passionate about science, and I love learning about new scientific discoveries and the potential those discoveries have for the field of medicine. I also run a science competition team at my high school and am a co-President of my school’s science honors society. I am a multi-year varsity softball player, the principal alto saxophonist of my school’s top wind ensemble, an academic peer tutor, and an iOS app developer. In my community, I am a volunteer softball coach and have a leadership role with a local non-profit organization that plays music at senior homes and community events. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
