Ship recycling is a multibillion-dollar global industry. But the majority of the world’s ships end up in just three yards in South Asia where the industry has been plagued by poor working conditions and pollution. These yards have seen some improvement though, and international legislation has the potential to dramatically improve working conditions and environmental standards.
