Rajan Singh has done it all- he’s done engineering from an IIT, served as the police commissioner of Thiruvananthapuram, done an MBA from Wharton, consulted at McKinsey, and now teaches physics at his edtech start-up. Such a life is not achieved without a fair share of risks, so Rajan is surely one of the best people to talk about how risks can be rewarding.
Rajan believes that you write your destiny- and that you have to work to achieve it. If you want something, you must put in the work to reach that goal, instead of hoping that life will somehow take you there. Often, we spend our whole lives in one office, one job, chasing the security and comfort that staying in that place offers, even if we don’t enjoy being there. Rajan reminds us that at the end of the day, life is more than just about existing, it’s also about living. And to do that, it’s sometimes necessary to leap into the unknown. Rajan Singh is an entrepreneur, the founder of ConceptOwl, a startup to make resources for entrance exam preparation more accessible to students in rural areas of the country. He graduated from IIT Kanpur, cleared the IPS, and was the police commissioner of Thiruvananthapuram. He quit halfway through his term to pursue an MBA at Wharton School. He then had a successful career in the field as a consultant at McKinsey and Company, and then at a private equity fund in Mumbai. Realizing his true passion lies in teaching physics, Rajan decided to launch ConceptOwl.
