Dr. Richard Shuster (http://drrichardshuster.com) is a clinical psychologist with specialties in forensic and neuropsychology. He launched “The Daily Helping” podcast (http://thedailyhelping.com) to challenge people to commit acts of kindness for strangers. Recognition for his podcast enabled him to create a nonprofit for children called Every Kid Rocks, as well as create a psychological assessment company that empowers individuals, helps veterans with trauma, and offers the world’s first tool in the addiction and recovery space to help people stay sober by focusing on their strengths. In his talk, Dr. Shuster unpacks his journey after a near-fatal car accident that broke his spine and nearly tore every ligament in his neck. Surviving helped him discover his true purpose — helping others. He focuses on the neuroscience of altruism and how we can shift away from a society focused on selfies to the neurological benefits of helping others.
