Have you ever walked down the street and noticed a building that spoke to you? What was it saying? In her talk about Filipino Dream Houses, Hanneke van Deursen breaks down the layers of how buildings talk to us, and what they can say about history, climate, and identity. Hanneke is currently a thesis student at Syracuse University’s School of Architecture. Her fascination with the built environment has led her across the globe to explore and study the buildings and environments that speak to her. In her Ted Talk, she hopes to share the underlying voice of architecture with a broader audience. She will use her research in the Philippines last summer, (In)Dependence and Identity: Exploring the Filipino Dream House, to peel back the layers of what a building can have to say. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
