During a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) clashed with the committee chair Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) over a proposed amendment to piece of legislation on Israel, as Menendez accused Cruz of “blackening” the history of bipartisanship in the committee by holding up nominees due to his political desires, including possibly running for President. The amendment, which removed wording saying that the US is seeking a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, failed by a wide margin.
