Tiffany describes her journey as a student from NYC as she aspired to become a Marine Biologist. Her story reflects the many trials and tribulations that inner-city students face when pursuing a career in STEM; and steps that she has made as a science educator to combat those issues. A New York City Native, Tiffany Hamm is a science educator from the Bronx. She is currently a second year doctoral student, pursuing a Ph.D. in Science Education. Inspired by her own journey as a student in the NYC and her experiences as a science teacher, her research interest focusses on ways to increase the accessibility of equitable science education in urban communities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
